To provide an electronic identification system which is operated precisely without increasing the communication time.
In an electronic radio-frequency identification system 10, an interrogator 11 and a plurality of RF transponders 12.1 to 12.n are included. Each transponder responds to an interrogation signal 14 by using forward error correctable data messages 16.1 to 16.n including base data encoded as symbol characters in accordance with a forward error correcting code, such as a Reed Solomon Code or the like, and including base data coded as check characters on base data defined in the forward error correcting code. The interrogator 11 uses data related to the forward error correcting code, to the symbol characters and to the check characters in the received forward error correctable data message, and it reconstructs the base data when the forward error correctable data message is corrupted during a transmitting operation.
