Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To electrically match an image on an input manuscript without using any special mechanical hardware. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a scanner for generating an image data stream indicating an electronic image of the image of an input manuscript, an edge detecting circuit 13 for detecting edge data in the stream of the image data, a calculating circuit for calculating the skew angle of the manuscript based on the detected edge data and for rotating the electronic image based on the calculated skew angle to match the electronic image with an output medium, and a non-image area generating circuit for generating an area in the electronic image corresponding to a non-image area based on the calculated skew angle and the detected edge data. The calculation of skew, the rotating operation, and the generation of the non-image area is accomplished based on the electronic detection of the corner and center of the leading edge of the original scanned by the scanner.
