Abstract:

To provide an electronic key system and a vehicle-side system that can recognize a possibility that a vehicle is under a relay attack, while preventing a short service life of a built-in battery of a portable machine.

A vehicle-side device 100 determines whether a portable machine 200 is located outside a communicable range of the vehicle-side device 100 or inside the communicable range based on whether an answer signal can be received by a UHF reception section 103 or not. Based on a fact that the portable machine 200 has changed from a state in which the portable machine 200 is located outside the communicable range of the vehicle-side device 100 to a state in which the portable machine 200 is located inside the communicable range of the vehicle-side device 100, the vehicle-side device 100 gives a notification to the effect to a mobile phone 300 through a public line communication section 104, and the mobile phone 300 announces the notification with a speaker 303 and an indicator 304.
