The electronic musical instrument has a sound source (904) for generating a musical sound signal, the speaker (908) for generating a musical sound based upon the musical sound signal, the headphone jack (909) for outputting the musical sound signal to the headphones, a storage portion (907) for storing the headphones which are not used, a detection portion (907) which detects whether the headphones are stored in the storage portion, and a control portion (914) which generates the musical sound from the speaker when the headphones are stored in the storage portion.
