PURPOSE: To perform price control by articles properly by allowing a person who inputs a specific secret number to register whether or not an article price is inhibited from being varied.

CONSTITUTION: Article data on unit prices, tare weights, etc., to be registered in memories as storage media of a controller 3 and respective electronic scales 51, 52... are stored on a magnetic tape in a cassette recorder 90 connected to the controller 3. Each of registration areas where the registration data are registered is provided with a variation inhibition flag F/G which indicates whether the unit price of each article is inhibited from or allowed to be varied in addition to article name codes and call data for calling article data. Then, a flag is set for a specific article when its unit price is inhibited from being varied, and set or reset only when a specific code is inputted. Further, when data in the registration areas are called from the respective electronic scales 51, 52..., the called unit price is inhibited from being varied even if anybody tries to vary the called unit price on condition that the variation inhibition flag is set.
