Abstract:
To provide an electronic scanning type ultrasonic probe using a polymer piezoelectric film, improved in its ultrasonic focusing property so that it is suited for use as an ultrasonic flaw detector for industrial purposes.
An electronic scanning type ultrasonic probe using a polymer piezoelectric film is designed to satisfy the relation of 1≤ΔW×W/λ/Ry≤2 where ΔW is the width of each of numerous elements 2 transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves, W is the width of a simultaneously-excited element array formed by plural adjacent ones of the numerous elements, λ is the wavelength of the transmitted pulse waveform of each element, and Ry is the focal distance of ultrasonic waves which is given by the simultaneously excited element array.
