PURPOSE: To considerably reduce the slip processing work of a teller by permitting OCR to read slip data inputted by a customer, displaying data on a handwriting tablet and permitting the customer to directly correct and input data by means of a light pen.
CONSTITUTION: Image data inputted from an image reader 2 is segment- processed in an item area being the object of recognition in a slip by a control mechanism 7. The control mechanism 7 character-recognizes segmented image data and a recognized result is displayed on the handwriting tablet 4 and is converted into code information. The customer visually recognizes the recognized result displayed on the handwriting tablet 4 and a part concerned is corrected and inputted to the tablet 4 by the light pen if correction is required. When correction/input terminates, the control mechanism 7 executes a character recognition processing and the recognized result is displayed on the handwriting tablet 4. When an electronic slip issuing device is installed in a lobby, the customer can directly execute an input operation.
