Abstract:

To reduce the influence of the variation of compliance (variation of the volume of a cuff corresponding to the variation of the pressure inside the cuff) on the pulse wave components.

A blood pressure measuring air bag 50 is filled with a fixed quantity of air, and the bag is closed. A CPU 30 measures P-V characteristics in advance, and the blood pressure measuring air bag 50 is wound around a region to be measured. The internal pressure of the blood pressure measuring air bag 50 closely attached to the region to be measured is increased by applying pressure from outside of the blood pressure measuring air bag 50, and blood vessels are pressed. In the process, the applied pressure is varied from outside of the blood pressure measuring air bag 50, and the cuff pressure of the blood pressure measuring air bag 50 generated from the variation of the capacity of the blood vessels and the pressure pulse wave data generated at the time are collected. Then, cuff compliance characteristics obtained from the P-V characteristics measured in advance are added as correction values of the pressure pulse waves to compute the blood pressure based on the collected data.
