PURPOSE: To effectively utilize the opening/closing mechanism of a display window of a multifunctional electronic timepiece which displays various kinds of information on an electrooptical display device at the display window and to make the kind of information being displayed on the display device easily recognizable by forming the openable/closable display window in the dial of the timepiece.

CONSTITUTION: A part is formed on a shutter plate 8 which opens or closes a display window section 7W so that the part can only cover the lower section of a liquid crystal display device 10 and a plurality of displaying bodies indicating various kinds of information is printed on the part. In accordance with the kind of information being displayed on the device, the plate 8 is rotated and the displaying body indicating the kind of the information is brought to a specific position (for example, to a central part).
