Abstract:
PURPOSE:To automatically read and display equivalents, and to easily operate a translator by automatically starting searching operation regarding a current input character when key operation is not performed for a prescribed time after a prescribed character is inputted. CONSTITUTION:The key input device 12 of an electronic translator is provided with alphabet keys 3, a power and clear key 1, a power-off key 2, a search key 4, a translation key 5, etc. On the top surface of the device 12, a display part 6 is arranged, and in the translator, a microprocessor 11 which inputs a key input signal KI and decides an operated key, a memory 13, and a display control part 14 are provided. When key operation is not performed for a specified time after a prescribed character or character string is inputted with keys 3, searching operation regarding the current input character string is started automatically to read and display its equivalent on the display part 6.
