Abstract:
PURPOSE:To retrain an error from occurring by adding an error correction code means for detecting and correcting a bit error in a storage region for a host digit of a main memory consisting of a nonvolatile memory. CONSTITUTION:A control means 3, receiving a control signal, reads the storage contents of a main memory 4 having a storage region for a lower digit of (m)wordX(n)bit and a storage region for a host digit of (i)wordX(j)bit, seeking a total travel distance short of one bit, and such one added with a unit travel distance to the value is regarded as the latest total travel distance, through which the storage contents of the memory 4 is renewed. At this time, data out of the control means 3 is outputted to a first check bit generating means 7, generating a first check bit, and this bit is stored in an auxiliary memory 72 with a check bit region of i wordXk bit. Then, at the time of reading the memory 4, the storage contents of the memory 4 is outputted to a second check bit generating means 73, and on the basis of the first check bit corresponding to the storage contents of the second check bit and the memory 72, the detection and correction of a bit error in the storage region for the host digit of the memory 4 are carried out.
