PURPOSE: To insert pulse signal of step information and shorten the time required for measuring steps by stopping ordinary driving pulses of an electronic watch during step measurement and after finishing the step measurement advanc ing quickly a time indication device automatically until the device indicates present time on the watch.

CONSTITUTION: AND circuits 17 and 18 close in step measuring mode, and ordinary driving pulses are stopped. At this time an AND circuit 20 opens and step information pulse signal is output to a first output terminal 23 through an OR circuit 21 and inverter circuit 22. During this time ordinary driving pulse signal is upcounted at an up-down counter 3 through an OR circuit 10. When step measuring mode is finished, the up-down counter 3 changes to down-count mode, and quick advance pulse signal is input through the OR circuit 10 to an output phase memory circuit 11 and the up-down counter 3, and a time indicating device is driven quickly until the content of the counter 3 becomes zero.
