Function names and dictionary names K1 to K20 to be selected are respectively associated and set in twenty small switches SW1 to SW20 built in a long-scale multipoint switch device 12, and respective function (dictionary) names Kn-1, Kn, Kn+1, ..., corresponding to a series of input switches SWn-1, SWn, SWn+1, ..., are displayed on a function/dictionary selection screen G according to the array of respective function (dictionary) names in accordance with a touch operation position P on the multipoint switch 12 so that a function (dictionary) name Kn corresponding to the center input switch SWn is displayed in the largest size and its adjacent function (dictionary) names Kn-1, Kn+1, ..., are displayed gradually smaller. At the end of the touch operation, the function (dictionary) name Kn corresponding to the center input switch SWn set immediately before the end of the input switches SWn-1, SWn, SWn+1, ..., are selected and set.
