To provide an electronic device which can accurately determine the current supply ability of an external power supply apparatus and perform high-efficiency charging, depending on the supply ability.
The electronic device 100, connected to an external electronic device 107 having a battery 109, includes an external power supply connecting unit 105 which can be connected to external power supply apparatuses having different current supply abilities; a battery 104 for driving the electronic device 100; a battery voltage detecting unit 102 for detecting the voltage of the battery 104; an external electronic device connecting unit 106 connected to an external electronic device 107; and a charge control unit 101 which, when the external power supply apparatus is connected to the external power supply connection unit 105, switches between the battery 109 and the battery 104 as a current supply destination for test charging, according to the detection result of the battery voltage detecting unit 102 and determines the current supply capability of the external power supply apparatus.
