The electrooptical device which is provided with an electrooptical layer 17 equipped with an electroopticcal material, a plurality of pixel electrodes 1 to drive the electrooptical material arranged in a matrix, and light shielding layers 26 which are formed on positions corresponding to mutual boundary regions of the pixel electrodes 1, is characterised by being provided with a condensing means to condense light made incident on the electrooptical layer 17 in at least a region where the pixel electrode 1 is formed and an emitted light collimating means to approximately collimate the light emitted from the electrooptical layer 17.
