Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrophoretic particles capable of exhibiting excellent dispersibility in electrophoretic dispersion liquid, and further to provide a manufacturing method of the electrophoretic particles, the electrophoretic dispersion liquid, an electrophoretic sheet, an electrophoresis apparatus and an electronic apparatus.SOLUTION: Each of electrophoretic particles 1 includes a mother particle 2 and a coating layer 3 covering at least a part of a surface of the mother particle 2. A manufacturing method of the electrophoretic particles 1 includes: a first step of preparing the mother particles 2; a second step of preparing a first chemical compound becoming a starting point of living polymerization; and a third step of forming the coating layers 3. The third step includes: a first step of bonding the first chemical compound having a part becoming at least the starting point of the living polymerization to the surfaces of the mother particles 2; a second step of obtaining a polymer by polymerizing a second chemical compound consisting of alkylene by the living polymerization with at least a part of the first chemical compound as the starting point; and a third step of displacing an end point of the living polymerization with hydrogen or an alkyl group.
