PURPOSE: To eliminate a damage to a photosensitive body by a small-sized device and to maintain a stable cleaning state by setting the angle α of intersection of a photosensitive body to a blade support part to ≥π/2 and also setting the angle β of intersection with a blade so that β>α.
CONSTITUTION: The elastic blade 2 which contacts the photosensitive body 1 at a contact C is supported by the support member 8 of a cleaning cover 5. The angle α of intersection of the targent X to the tip C of the blade and the axis Y of the member 8 on the uncleaned side is set to ≥π/2, and the angle βof intersection of the blade and photosensitive body is so set that β>α. The compressive force of the blade to the photosensitive body, therefore, becomes proper and its surface is not damaged; and slight variation in frictional force never becomes the variance of the blade and uniform contacting is attained by the small-sized device without any vibration, thereby maintaining stable cleaning performance without toner filming and any damage due to foreign matter.
