PURPOSE: To enable an operator to manually input the size of an original by providing a means for manually designating the size of the original by indicating the edge of the original by a position discriminating means.
CONSTITUTION: An editing pad 26 has an original area on which the original to be copied is placed and which is shown on the digitize surface 31 of the pad 26. Then, it has a means which is selected by the operator and by which the operator manually designates at least one point of the end of the original; and the means is an editing pad pen 33. The pen 33 is connected to a pen holder 34 by an extensible coil-like wire 35. The original 36 to be copied is positioned at the upper right corner of the digitize area 31 of the pad 26. By designating the lower left corner of the original by using the pen 33, the size of the original is calculated with inches and the calculated result is registered on a system substrate.
