PURPOSE: To enable to form an image from an electrical signal without using optical systems or photosensitive bodies, by a method wherein an electric charge image formed on a capacitor matrix array is transferred onto an insulating body for transferring, then a toner image is formed, and is transferred onto a paper.
CONSTITUTION: By a semiconductor thin film producing technique, the capacitor matrix arrays 32, 33 comprising a capacitor 13 and a thin film transistor 11 for each picture element are produced. Electrical signals are sent from a data signal circuit 1 and an address signal circuit 2 to the arrays 32, 33 to form the electric charge image on the surface of the latter. The electric charge image is transferred onto the surface of an insulator (polystyrene)-coated Al drum 30 disposed opposite to the arrays 32, 33. A toner is applied to the transferred charge image by a toner applicator 37 to form a toner image, which is transferred onto the paper 38, followed by fixing, if required, to obtain a hard copy.
