Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form images with high reliability and small energy at a low cost without contamination in a device, paper jam, rear transfer to paper, etc., by using a specific photosensitive body and an electrostatic charger or destaticizing brush, etc., for destaticizing the charges of the photosensitive body after transfer.

CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive body 1 having a photosensitive layer consisting of hydrogenated and/or fluorinated amorphous silicon is used. After the surface of the photosensitive body 1 is uniformly electrostatically charged by the electrostatic charger 2, the photosensitive body is exposed by the light from an image input device 3 to form an electrostatic latent image which is then converted to the visible image by a developing device 4. The formed visible image is brought into contact under pressurization with paper 6 by a pressure transfer roll 5, by which the transferring and fixing of the toner image are executed. The charges remaining on the photosensitive body 1 are removed by the destaticizing device 9. Since the electrostatic charger or the destaticizing brush or a destaticizing blade is used as the destaticizing device 9, the charges remaining on the photosensitive body surface are completely removed and the film thickness on the surface layer of the photosensitive body 1 is increased. Then, there is no adhesion of the toners on the rear surface of the pressure transfer roll and the generation of the paper jam and transfer of the image to the rear surface of the paper occurring in the adhered toner is obviated.
