To obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor reduced in variation in the thickness of a photosensitive layer even in a long-term use and stable in characteristics over a long period of time by incorporating a specified perylene compound into a photosensitive layer.
This electrophotographic photoreceptor has a layer containing a siloxane resin containing structural units having electric charge transferring performance and having a crosslinked structure as a surface protective layer and a photosensitive layer containing a perylene compound. This perylene compound is one of 3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid imide derivatives of formulae I-III or a mixture of these. In the formulae, R1d and R2 are each H, an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkoxy, alkylamino, dialkylamino, benzyl, phenetyl or a heterocyclic group, these groups are optionally substituted, when a macromonomer is formed, R1 and R2 may be 1,4-phenylene, and Z is a group of atoms required to form an optionally substituted heterocycle.
