Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high sensitivity and high durability electrophotographic photoreceptor for a high-speed copying machine and for a laser printer, an electrophotographic method, an electrophotographic apparatus and a process cartridge.
SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor obtained by disposing a photosensitive layer on an electroconductive support, an azo compound of the formula Ar-(N=N-Cp)n is contained in the photosensitive layer. In the formula, Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group which may bond through a linking group; each Cp is a coupler residue; n is an integer of 1-4; and at least one of the symbols Cp is a coupler residue of formula (2) wherein X is H, alkyl, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, a heterocyclic group or amino.
