To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor and a method of manufacturing the electrophotographic photoreceptor in which an image defect due to pinhole leak is not generated, stable and high sensitivity and excellent potential characteristics are given in all environments extending from low temperature and low humidity to high temperature and high humidity, and excellent images are constantly formed even when the electrophotographic photoreceptor is repeatedly used.
In the electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer on a conductive supporting body via an intermediate layer, the photoreceptor is characterized in that the intermediate layer is formed by hydrolyzing a hydrolyzable compound at a temperature of 100 °C or lower.
