Abstract:

To improve electric characteristics and image characteristics of an electrophotographic photoreceptor in any environment from high temp. and high humidity to low temp. and low humidity by incorporating a binder resin and titanium oxide treated with a polyol into a base coating layer.

This photoreceptor has an under coating layer formed between a photosensitive layer and a conductive substrate, and the under coating layer contains a binder resin and titanium oxide treated with a polyol. As for the polyol, a polyol having 3 to 10 carbon atoms and 3 to 6 hydroxyl groups is used. As for the binder resin, a polyamide resin having excellent adhesion property with the substrate and small solubility with the solvent used for the coating liquid of a charge producing layer is preferably used. Moreover, a copolymer polyamide resin having a diamine component expressed by formula as the structural component is preferably used. In the formula, R1 to R6 are independently hydrogen atoms, alkyl groups or alkoxy groups. Thereby, the electric characteristics and image characteristics are improved in any environment from high temp. and high humidity to low temp. and low humidity.
