PURPOSE: To improve the repetitive characteristic and temp. characteristic of the photosensitive body by laminating a charge generating layer consisting of a phthalocyanine material and a surface protective layer on a charge transfer layer.
CONSTITUTION: This photosensitive body is constituted by laminating the charge transfer layer consisting of amorphous selenium or amorphous selenium alloy, the charge generating layer consisting of the phthalocyanine material and the surface protective layer consisting of an amorphous selenium-arsenic alloy successively on a conductive base body. The phthalocyanine material having the absorption peak in a long wavelength light region and having the band gap larger than the band gap of an amorphous selenium-tellurium alloy is used for the charge generating layer, by which the generation of the thermal excitation carrier in the charge generating layer is suppressed and the degradation in the electrostatic charge is prevented. The stable images having good quality even at the time of repetitive use or in high-temp. environment are thus obtd.
