Abstract:

To provide an electrorheological fluid having properties of newtonian fluid.

The electrorheological fluid includes polarizable particles and a dispersion medium. The polarizable particles are formed on the basis of silica particles. The dispersion medium may include silicone oil. The silicone oil may be modified silicone oil including at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxy group (-OH group), an amino group (-NH₂ group), a mercapto group (-SH group), and a carboxy group (-COOH group).
