To obtain a toner having a low fixing temp., good transparency for an OHP and excellent storage property by suspension-polymerizing polymerizable monomers in the presence of a coloring agent and low mol.wt. -caprolactone polymer.
A capsule toner for heat-press fixing is prepared by suspension polymn. of polymerizable monomers in the presence of a coloring agent, release agent and -caprolactone polymer. The mol.wt. of -caprolactone ring-opened polymer is 3000 to 8000 as the number average mol.wt. The ring-opened - caprolactone polymer is obtd. by the reaction of -caprolactone and diols such as ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol in the presence of a catalyst. The obtd. toner consists of 90 to 99 wt.% of polymer component from the polymerizable monomers, preferably 91 to 98 wt.%, and 1 to 10 wt.% of ring- opened polymer component of lactone, preferably 2 to 9 wt.%. The polymer component forms the core, while the ring-opened lactone polymer forms the shell.
