PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality image even in the case of long-term use by providing a pressing member capable of coming in contact with a conductive fiber material and equipped with a heating element near an electrostatic charging member.

CONSTITUTION: The pressing member 18 arranged near the electrostatic charging member 5 has a shape uniformly extending in a direction parallel with the center of the rotation of the member 5, and its length in the longitudinal direction is nearly the same as the width in the shaft direction of the conductive fiber part 5a of the member 5, and further the tip part 18a of the member 18 has a pawl shape extending toward the upstream side in the rotating direction of the member 5. A solenoid actuator 19 is coupled with the coupling rod 18c of the member 18. By driving the solenoid, the member 18 is selectively moved in parallel either to a position where the tip part 18a comes in contact with the conductive fiber of the member 5 or to a position where it does not come in contact therewith. Furthermore, the heating element 18d and a termistor 18e are attached to the lower surface side and the corner part of the upper surface of the member 18, respectively.
