To surely control a filling level of molten metal into a cavity 5 of a casting mold 3 by precisely measuring the filling level of the molten level into the cavity 5 with high accuracy.
The electrostatic level meter for casting is equipped with the electrodes 6, 16 for capacitor that are installed on the surface on the casting mold 3 opposing to the cavity 5 of the casting mold 3 and the charge/discharge type capacitance gauges 13, 19 that electrically charge the electrodes 6, 16 for capacitor with a DC voltage, that discharge the charged electricity at a specific current, and that measure, through the discharging time, the electrostatic capacity obtained between the electrodes 6, 16 and the molten metal filled in the cavity 5; on the basis of the change in the electrostatic capacity measured by these charge/discharge type capacitance gauges 13, 19, the filling level is measured for the molten metal filled into the cavity 5 of the casting mold 3. Feeding is performed while the supply pattern of the driving power to an electromagnetic pump is adjusted by a controller 15 such as an SCR or an inverter.
