PURPOSE: To assist cleaning action by an intrinsic cleaning device and assure cleaning effect by providing a magnet on the upper stream side of a developing and cleaning device.

CONSTITUTION: A bar-shaped magnet piece 20 extending in the width direction of a rotary drum 7 is mounted to the upper stream side of the developing position A of a developing and cleaning device 10. The magnet piece 20 is disposed in proximity to a photoreceptor layer 7a by having spread and the spacing therebetween is made 0.5W1m/m. When the drum 7 starts the 2nd turn in copying operation, the toner remaining on the photoreceptor layer 7a is first attracted and removed to the magnet piece 20 and the toner remained further is attracted and removed by the magnet group 10c in the sleeve 10b of the ordinary cleaning device 10. Thereby, the cleaning effect may be made sure.
