PURPOSE: To facilitate controlling many kinds of overlay information, by generating the contraction plate of the film previously when the film for overlay is generated and by displaying this film contraction plate on the operation part of the electrostatic recording device.

CONSTITUTION: Main information recording part 5, developing device 6, transfer device 7, and cleaning device are provided around drum-form photosensitive material 4. First, main informaton is exposed onto photosensitive material 4 to form a latent image in main information recording part. This latent image is transferred by transfer device after made visible at the passage through developing device 6. Film 9 for overlay is set between main information recording part 5 and developing device 6 and is exposed instantaneously onto photosensitive material 4 by light source 10 for illumination. At this time, since contraction plate 2 is inserted to the window on the upper face of box body 1, overlay information is displayed on the operation part as it is without symbols and so on.
