PURPOSE: To remove residual toner infiltration into the head section with a specified contact area given between the electrostatic recording head and a recording body by mounting the head on the plane vertical to the surface of the recording body tilted at a specified angle opposite to the ongoing direction of the recording body.

CONSTITUTION: The mounting position of an electrostatic recording head is tilted opposite to the ongoing direction of a recording body 1 by a specified angle θ with respect to the straight line drawn from the moving surface of the recording body 1 and the electrostatic recording head is pressed fit to the center axis of a rotary roll 7 with the recording body 1 interposed therebetween. With such an arrangement, residual toner not cleared off completely with a cleaner is raked out with an edge part of a spacer 5 while prevented from infiltration into a clearance 2 of the electrostatic recording head 23 on the press-fit point P line due to the action of a pressing fit force. This can maintain the contact area necessary for discharge between a multistylus electrode 3 and a control electrode 4 and reduction in the contact area can be controlled by raising the pressing fit force.
