PURPOSE:To prepare an electrotyping shell having excellent quality in good efficiency within a short time, by supplying an electrotyping current between an electrotyping matrix mold and a current passing electrode while relative motion is imparted between said matrix mold and an electrolyte containing a large number of semiconductive particles having mechanical grinding capability. CONSTITUTION:A mirror surface finished electro-forming matrix mold 8 is attached to a head 20 and immersed in an electrotyping liquid 6 filled with no particles 7 to apply thin mirror surface plating comprising an electro-forming metal thereto. Subsequently, the plated matrix mold is drawn up from the liquid 6 to be exposed to air to oxidize the plated film. In the next step, while the matrix mold 8 is rotated as well as reciprocally raised and fallen or shaken, electrotyping is carried out to form an electrotyping layer and, when the formation of dendrite is started, semiconductive or non-conductive particles 7 are supplied to be filled while a current is increased. Thus fabricated electrotyping shell 9 is relatively easily released and detached.
