PURPOSE: To embody the miniaturization of a device and a soft-rising in time of a clutch turned to ON by adopting such a mechanism as used with an electroviscous fluid, in this clutch having used a coil spring.
CONSTITUTION: This clutch is provided with a driving pulley 1 with a flange 1a, a driving plate 6 connected to this pulley 1, a driven plate 8 opposedly set up in this driving plate 6 and forming a closed space 10 in a gap with this driving plate 6, a coil spring 14, whose one end is connected to this driven plate 8, and being closely stickable to an outer circumferential surface of the flange 1a by means of tight-winding, a cover plate 15 being connected to the other end of this coil spring 14 and attached tight to a main shaft 7 of a driven unit 2, an electroviscous fluid 13 sealed in the closed space 10, and such a means 16 as impressing a voltage to this electroviscous fluid 13, respectively.
