Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an electroviscous liquid which can increase the thickening magnification of fluid viscosity at impressed field against that at non-impressed field to the higher level than the conventional electroviscous liquid in which the solid particles contain water of the same content level.
CONSTITUTION: The electroviscous liquid is composed of a dispersing phase consisting of solid particles, which has absorbed a metallic colloid containing macromolecular protection agent and an electric insulating dispersing medium. The macromolecular protection agent is amphiphilic; hydrophilic and soluble in an organic solvent. The metallic colloid-containing solid particles can absorb a high dielectric liquid, e.g. water.
