PURPOSE: To make efficient use of a trunk and alleviate irritation of a passenger by providing an elevator cage at a position in the upper part f its inner side panel with a transparent window, and also an ornament shelf in the upper par of the trunk.

CONSTITUTION: An elevator car 1 is provided with a trunk 6 at a position in the lower part of an inner side panel 4 of the cage opposite to a door 3 of the cage and to be unlocked with a specific key. An ornament shelf 8 is provided in the upper part of the trunk 6. The shelf 8 is separated from the elevator cage 1 with a transparent window 9 capable of being locked and unlocked, and opened and closed. Ornaments 10 are displayed in the ornament window 8. With this constitution, a passenger 12 can use the elevator in a relaxed mood during the time from riding in the cage 1 to a destination floor while seeing the ornaments 10 displayed in the ornament window 8 without being irritated even if a certain length of time is required.
