PURPOSE: To obtain an elevator car in which passengers can see a position display device easily in a normal posture.

CONSTITUTION: A position display device 9 to display the position of an elevator car is provided to the surface of a car floor 3, and it is arranged close to the entrance 2 of the car 1 in the buried condition. As a result, since the sight lines of passengers in the posture to get out soon face to the threshold 5 of the car they can, see the position display device 9 provided to the car floor 3 easily. As a result, the passengers 8 in the cage 1 can see the display of the position display device 9 easily without changing their sight lines largely to the upper side when the car door 6 is opened. Consequently the generation of a troublesome condition resulting from the failure of observing the display, or from observing it in a wrong way, can be prevented.
