Abstract:
To provide an elevator and an elevator control method that enable a thick part of a main ripe to pass through a linear drive device.SOLUTION: An elevator 1 is provided with: a main rope 130A that circulates between two pulleys 150A and 160A; a lifting body 120A that is connected to the main rope 130A; and a linear drive device 10 that causes the main rope 130A to generate a thrust. The linear drive device 10 has a drive unit 10A, and a retreat mechanism 11A. The drive unit 10A has a first member 21, and a second member 22. The retreat mechanism 11A brings the first member 21 close to or away from the main rope 130A. The retreat mechanism 11A performs a retreat operation for bringing the first member 21 away from the main rope 130A when a thick part formed in the main rope 130A passes between the first member 21 and the second member 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
