To suppress the increase in hoistway space and improve the utilizing efficiency of a building by providing a car support part on a car transport base in such a manner as to be capable of reciprocating between a support position and a non-support position, and delivering the car by the operation of the car support part in the middle of a linearly arranged hoistway.
A car 30 for high lift elevator is supported by car transport bases 34a, 34b, raised in the first section S1 of a hoistway 31 by hoists 32a, 32b, and stopped in a middle floor landing 31b. In the middle floor landing 31b, second car transport bases 38a, 38b having a car support part 51 set in a non-support position are waited. In this middle floor landing 31b, the car support part 51 of the car transport bases 38a, 38b is advanced to a support position. On the other hand, the car support part 51 of the car transport bases 34a, 34b is retreated to the non-support position, whereby the car 30 is delivered to the car transport bases 38a, 38b. In this state, the car 30 is raised in a second section S2 by hoists 36a, 36b.
