PURPOSE: To improve the riding comfortableness by providing a vibration absorber for absorbing horizontal vibration energy of a weight compensating rope in a clearance between a balance weight and the weight compensating rope, so as to prevent the horizontal vibration of the rope and abnormal vibration produced in a car.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of main ropes 3 are wound to a hoist, to fit a car to one end of the rope 3 and a balance weight 2 to the other end respectively, and the car is lifted in a well bucket manner. The balance weight 2 is constituted by piling together subweights 17 in a framework 16, to provide a supporting base 18 for connecting a plurality of weight compensating ropes 6 in a side surface 5. These ropes 6 are arranged in a single line and connected to the supporting base 18 through a spring 9. In the device thus obtained, a vibration absorber 13 comprising a plate-shaped elastic unit 14 and a supporting material 15 is interposed in a clearance between the balance weight 2 and the weight compensating rope 6, to absorb the horizontal vibration energy of the weight compensating rope 6.
