An elevator mechanism is provided. In this mechanism, an air shower room 6 is provided with an air-tight door 5 in a cage 3 movably installed along a hoistway space 4 extending over multi-stories, and air shower devices are installed in suitable places, and air tight door 7 is installed on the room side on each story corresponding to the air tight door of the cage, and these air tight doors are constituted in such a way that they can air tightly abut on each other, and the hoistway space is constituted so as to maintain negative pressure to the room in each story. Through this constitution, cleaning up can be conducted utilizing the time during which human or substances are moving with an elevator, and required time can also be shortened.
