PURPOSE: To provide an elevator speed governor rope expansion correcting device capable of automatically correcting the expansion of a governor rope so as to improve the safety of an elevator.

CONSTITUTION: A tension pulley 2 part is provided with detecting switches 12-15 for detecting the height position. In correspondence with the expansion of a governor rope 3, an elevator is put into the resting state by an elevator control panel 18, and a speed governor 1 is elevatingly regulated by an elevating governor 17 to correct the expansion of the governor rope. The expansion correcting work of the governor rope can be thereby performed safely with efficiency. The short-term expansion of the governor rope can be also coped with, and even in the case of a high stroke, clearance can be made small so as to enable space-saving.
