To provide an elevator capable of maintaining normal operation without stopping car operation even when a power-supply voltage drops.
A power supply circuit 20, which connects a commercial AC power supply 1 and a motor 5 for driving a car 8, includes: a converter device 2 which rectifies an AC voltage from the commercial AC power supply 1; an inverter device 4 which converts a rectified DC voltage to a variable-voltage and variable-frequency AC voltage to output the AC to the converter device 2; a smoothing capacitor 3 which is provided between the converter device 2 and the inverter device 4; a storage circuit 22 which is provided between the converter device 2 and the smoothing capacitor 3, which stores electric power and which supplies the stored electric power to the inverter device 4; an adding circuit 6 which adds the voltage of the converter device 2 and the voltage of the storage circuit 22 to output the added voltages to the inverter device 4; and a control device which performs control to change the voltage of the storage circuit 22 to a voltage equivalent to the amount of voltage drop from the commercial AC power supply 1.
