PURPOSE: To aim at the promotion of energy saving in terms of power as well as to make an unpleasant feeling or a sense of uneasy so as not to be given to passengers in a cage even at the time of power failure by constituting it so as to use a commercial power source and a solar battery in combination.
CONSTITUTION: A solar battery 19 is installed on an outer circumferential surface of an elevator cage 8 so as to receive light out of a lighting window 1b for photoelectric conversion. A condensed device 20 is connected to this solar battery 19, while the ventilator 15 and a lighting system are directly or indirectly connected to the solar battery 19 as well, and a commercial power source and the solar battery are made usable in combination. When the elevator cage 8 goes up and down in the lifting passage 1, the ventilator 15 and the lighting system are driven by power out of this commercial power source at the time of ordinary operation. At the time of power failure, the ventilator 15 and the lighting system are directly or indirectly connected to the solar battery 19 and the condensed device 20 by a selector switch and they are energized with current. On the other hand, the ventilator 15 and the lighting system are directly connected to the solar battery 19 at need by the selector switch for current- energization, thus the promotion of energy saving is contrived. At the time of operation at night, the ventilator 15 and the lighting system are energized by the solar battery 19 and the condensed device 20.
