PURPOSE: To prevent an elevator from colliding against a load by reducing a falling speed through provision of a photoelectric decice on a captioned elevator which sucks veneers stacked in plenty one by one and moves the same to the other place.
CONSTITUTION: In case of the descent of a vacuum attraction device, a brake solenoid valve 31 is switched to an ascending chamber 31B and an ascending and descending solenoid valve 36, a high speed descending solenoid valve 33 and an air operation valve 41 are switched to a descending chamber 36B and a ventilation 41B. Then, air from an air supply source 35 is supplied to a brake chamber 16 from an air opening 22 through air passages 34A and 34B, through which a brake 20 is slacken and the device 27 drops quickly. And in this case, when the device 27 approaches stacked plates 28 and light of a photoelectic tube 32 of the device 27 is interrupted with the stacked plates 28, a high speed descending solenoid valve 33 is switched to a stopping chamber 33A, air in an air passage 38 is switched to a low speed throttle valve 35 and the device 27 drops at a low speed.
