Title:
ELONGATION SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0247505
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify a structure and to detect even a large change in a shape linearly by constructing an elongation sensor by disposing light-emitting and light-sensing means at the opposite ends of an optical fiber having elasticity, respectively, and by fitting a retaining member and a tensile member to the fiber at two middle points thereof. CONSTITUTION:A main body element 1 of an elongation sensor has elasticity as a whole and is constructed so that a core member, a clad member and a covering material form concentric circles. A light-emitting means 4 is provided at one end of this main body element 1 of the sensor and a light-sensing means 5 at the other end thereof. A retaining member 2 and a tensile member 3 are fixed at two arbitrary points of the main body element 1 of the sensor by bonding or the like. The quantity of transmitted light varies continuously and linearly with the elongation of the main body element 1 of the sensor.
