To form a sharp-cut embossed pattern and to prevent the embossed pattern from fading with time, as regards an embossed pattern formed on the surface of a leather sheet.
There is provided an embossing apparatus including: a raised stamp which presses the surface of a workpiece; a pressure receiver which is placed oppositely to the raised stamp and on which a flat surface or a recessed portion corresponding to the raised stamp is formed; a press mechanism which drives one or both of the raised stamp and pressure receiver; and an electric power unit which is connected to the raised stamp and pressure receiver and generates a high-frequency current, wherein the workpiece fitted between the raised stamp and pressure receiver is pressed by the press mechanism and heated with electromagnetic waves generated by applying the high-frequency current.
