PURPOSE: To work correct embossing patterns without any effect of backlash and improve forming efficiency by providing backlash preventing devices and adjusting devices for gaps between male and female dies to embossing roll shafts.
CONSTITUTION: The working faces of the transmission gear 8a and drive gear 9 mounted to upper, lower roll shafts 5, 6 are closely contacted. Next, the tie bolt 12 of the gear 8 is loosened and the push bolt 13 is turned to horizontally move the gear 8b until the other working faces of the teeth of the gear 9 and the working face of the gear 8b contact, thence the bolt 12 is turned to fix the gear 8b to the gear 8a, whereby backlash is decreased. Thence, one embossing roll 2 is fixed to the shaft 5 by means of a key 14 and the other embossing roll 3 is fixed to the roll shaft 6 by rotating the roll 3 around the roll shaft 6 and inserting liners in the gaps (e1), (e2) between the key groove 16 and key 15 of the roll shaft 6 in such a manner that the gaps (d1), (d2) between male dies 18 and female dies 17 assume a fixed ratio at which the lower stream side (d1) when viewed from the flow of material 20 is smaller than the upper stream side (d2).
