Abstract:

To provide an emergency brake that surely can reduce a vehicle speed or can stop the vehicle by conducting an emergency braking action even if an emergency case such as a power line failure of a track side occurs.

The emergency brake for a rolling stock 10A that runs on a rail track 12A has magnetic makers 16A and 16B, which are mounted on a track 12A and provide speed limit information to the rolling stock 10A without requiring an electrical power, magnetic sensors 18A and 18B mounted on the rolling stock 10A, which detect the speed limit information transmitted from the magnetic makers 16A and 16B, brake control unit 24A, which brakes the vehicle if its speed is found to be over the speed limit, by comparing the present vehicle speed with the speed limit information obtained from the sensors 18A and 18B.
