To provide an emergency communication device for an elevator capable of transmitting the message of an elevator passenger who wants to transmit anything to the outside party when he is confined in an elevator car even if the passenger is not good in talking.

The emergency communication device of the elevator is equipped with a confinement sensing means to emit a confinement signal when the car door opening operation is not conducted, an intra-car notification device installed inside the car and emitting any rescue information prepared by an entering operation to outside the car, and a notification device disengaging means to make operable the intra-car notification device in conformity to the confinement signal given by the confinement sensing signal, wherein the intra-car notification device has an input part to prepare any rescue information and a display part to display the rescue information prepared by the input part each time the input is entered.
